Ten Things Students Need to Know About the UCSD Libraries

Stop by any library help desk, call us at 534-3339, or email us at
ioc@library.ucsd.edu.
2. Get started online with the UCSD Libraries!
Check out libraries.ucsd.edu/services/getstarted to become familiar
with the Libraries, our Web site, and using our many online
research tools!
3. Living off-campus? You’ll need to
set-up proxy server access.
To get into most of the Libraries’ online resources from
off-campus, you’ll need to change a couple preferences on
your home computer’s browser. For step-by-step instructions,
see libraries.ucsd.edu/proxy
4. All eleven libraries are wireless zones.
Check out libraries.ucsd.edu/libraries.html to learn more.
5. Course Reserves are available through the UCSD Libraries.
Use the online Course Reserves system (reserves.ucsd.edu) to find
out if your professors have placed electronic or printed information “on
reserve” for their classes.
6. ROGER is the UCSD Libraries’ online
catalog.
Use ROGER to
locate library items here at UCSD. In ROGER, you can renew books
online and request that they’re delivered
to the library of your choice at UCSD.
7. SAGE is the UCSD Libraries’ gateway
to reliable online information.
Use SAGE to find online research-related resources that have been
selected by the UCSD Libraries for you.
8. CLICS at Revelle Plaza is open 24/7 during Finals Week.
CLICS, the largest computer lab on campus, is open 24/7 and
serves free coffee and cookies during Finals Week.
9. UCSD Libraries have more than 10,000 electronic items
and 3 million books.
We’re not like your high school or public library! Learn
how to use your UCSD Libraries so that you are an efficient and
effective researcher while at UCSD.
