The Academic Internship Program (AIP)
The AIP is a valuable form of professional training which provides upper-division students of all majors with the opportunity to apply classroom theory and test career interests in off-campus settings. There are hundreds of internships available in the AIP office and a counselor will help you find the right internship or provide direction for creating your own. All internships are reviewed to be sure they meet university guidelines for professional supervision, appropriate job description, and adequate training. The program is offered all four quarters of the year for upper-division, elective credit. Internships are available in San Diego, Washington, D.C., London, Sacramento, and several other locations.
It is helpful to plan for an internship with your academic advisors so that you can use the units to fill upper-division, general elective requirements. Some departments will allow an academic internship to count toward your major. AIP is located on the second floor of the Literature Building.
